Personally, I feel the Fox class of bot should be employed before adding a new reaper. It would add a better medium between the runner and hunter because it would be smaller and smarter, more huminish.
My question is, what kind of small arms would it drop? Personally I feel it would be a good opportunity to add a new ammo type. Maybe something higher caliber, it seems like all the new guns use 7.62.
So my preferred enemy will be the Infiltrator. Basically it takes up a slot in the server, has an icon the same as the player and spawns with looks and guns and a dorky name. There will be no way of knowing it’s a robot.
There is no way to kill it, so run or work together to trap it as it will just keep on coming like a terminator. Maybe even create a fence for it or something to trap it, since we can build nowadays.
Hard to code possibly, but could be fun I think. Lure it down to a base and quickly work together to trap him. If the base gets attacked you will have more incentive to go and repair it otherwise the infiltrator will escape and come after you again.
Anyway, I like the idea of a terminator-esc enemy.
“It can’t be bargained with, it can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity! Or remorse or fear and it absolutely will not stop!.. ever… until you are dead!”
@Hemi Ive been asking for a “Terminator” look alike here for a while.
I do disagree, it should not be indestructible, but it should be able to repair itself for a few times before going down for good.
His abilities should also exchange.
1st stage - Roams the map looking like a human with human weapons, it looks for players in its Region and will attack only at 8 meters from you (you will not receive in combat warning)
2nd Stage After going down (1st time) it looks like a Dead Human, is faster and makes more damage now, it will porsue you through the entire map.
3rd Final stage, after repair, he no longer looks like a person, all metal like a Mini Hunter, will porsue you through the entire map, makes even more damage and has the ability to call for Hunters and runners (like Harvester), any roaming machine nearby will come to his location (like a Seeker), still uses human weapons but one of the arms launches rockets (like the runner rocket version).
Extra info:
He can enter Buildings,
After being killed for the 3rd time he drops the same as a Base assault mission
Would be good, if there would be more roaming NPCs, but as there are none, this makes not much sense.
“Oh, I spotted a human person walking straight towards me. Who can it be? I’ll wait and see…”
…will not happen. More like:
“A walking human?” BAM, BAM, BAM (sounds the exp PVG… Somewhere in the distance, a “man” goes down… And stands up again… Repeat, repeat, reward)
Edit:
What I wanted to say is, that a human-like terminator-like machine could be cool, but doesn’t fit as good in the game in its current state. So a terminator-like machine doesn’t need to look and act like a human. What we “need” is just an enemy who hunts us and forces us to get out of our comfort zone. A terminator-nemesis mix. (I once made a suggestion for a “nemesis-system”)
Its just for fun you are being too critic.
In a game with no npcs there is no way to introduce a silent menace without us knowing immediately its not an npc or a player.
I created something GZ realistic taking in consideration what the other user said.
Just being a machine with no Human look is fine by me.
Hence why it would spawn like a regular player and keep players guessing. Kinda like “The Thing” (old ps2/pc game), you would never know which NPC was “the Thing”.
It needs to be indestructible imo, or maybe a down-state like you can slow it down or something (like the Hunter in Dead Space, or mr X in resident evil).
If you are able to destroy it, it would just be canonfodder and no one would actually be afraid of it.
Well, let’s say it’s an improved hunter.
A smaller version, that fits humen doors and rooms better.
No weapon on the back, but faster (less to no delay while targeting and attacking) and more intelligent and agile.
Could roam in groups of 3, each with another specialisation in weaponry.
Due to improvements it uses silent communication and makes less noise in movement.
You’ll be warned, that they joined the battlefield and in which region, but nothing more indicators of where they are. Maybe if they move to another region, there could be an info.
Fast travel should be blocked, as soon as they appear, so that you have to walk/drive to a safehouse or base, if you want to prepare to defend against them or to leave the game (save and quit).
I love the ideas, except I dont think that making it indestructible is a good idea. I get that the point would be to make it so the players are never quite safe, and make it stand out and be something to fear. But i know I personally would be more bothered than scared. If im going to be persued by an unrelenting force, it better at least be destructable.
