The Final Showdown Update (12th dec) - rumours and discussion (wiki)

Don’t be surprised, because they did it before. The area for South Coast control point Kalebyviken west of Lannbacka is new land that we didn’t had before.

Now that is imaginative :open_mouth: And it would be quite unexpected. And I must admit that the gas cannisters have never shipped me of to the Moon. Or Mir for that matter

I have been to the Moon in Portal 2 though.

I didn’t recognize the big white cylinder in the middle of the teaser picture as a rocket - I thought it was a chimney. But I see it now :grinning:

You’re right, @Gysbert! And some minor islands not far from Fiskebäck … they also appeared out of nowhere! I totally forgot about that …

Edit: Lännbäcka - not Fiskebäck. I’m a bit rusty in Östertörn geography apparently :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

No that one is a chimney… But the structure on the right side could be a rocket launching ramp. Who knows? :man_shrugging:

When i look at the photos from the very first post of this topic. The first photo looks like a makeshift camp on a rooftop of one of the houses in Östervik. But the view reminds me more at Klinte. The one multifamily house in the close vicinity of the church. The other photo looks for me like a chemical fabrik the big structure looks like more than a fraction tower or an reactor tower from a chemical facility or a raffinerie . Around Cologne and Ludwigshafen you can find such facilities with similar structures and big tanks. The screen on the lower left side shows an area that looks like the Area in the Normyrra Artillery camp. The big nearly empty space what is suroundet by walls. Pherhaps something will be happen there.

Ok, let’s get somewhat deeper

What else do you think could that mean?
Which kind of terrain do we miss on östertörn?
We have beaches, hills, rocks, mountains, wide ranges of gras and fields, forests, snowy areas…

We don’t have a desert yet.
And no underwater terrain.

I think, that “New terrains” just means new areas, and not per se a new biotope we don’t have in the game. The emphasis seems to lie more on the “unique feel” term. But that’s so obscure that I can’t think of such a feel without going totally overboard in my imagination, which then, definitely will not be added in the last update. We have to think big, in a small way. :coffee:

So what kind of unique feel is meant? Maybe simply something they haven’t shown us before, like confronting a manifestation of FNIX boss in a machine form unfamiliar to us. Or working together with Tatiana.

I also think the term “Explosive Finale” is a clue that it’s going to involve a real explosion (ingame).

Yeah… Fireworks in the sky.
An exploding MIR.

But in the end I still can’t really believe that the end is the end (of a world).

So I don’t believe that suddenly FNIX and soviets are defeated and all the machines explode or stop working and that there is nothing more to fight against.

The game must have a system in place to keep the game playable. It wouldn’t be very logical if it was the end of a world. So, like I said before, whatever ending they have thought of, we always need to have the possibility to return to a point in the game where there is still fights between FNIX and Soviet machines and all the opposing factions.

Hopefully we get some more lore to get a better understanding of the stories the devs have been telling us. I really liked the Tatiana story arc. We have for instance seen lore that Bolshakov might still be alive, and maybe he will play a part in the last update.

Mind you; The picture with the insignia is made by me, for illustration purposes.

Think of the endings already in the game now. Did the game become unplayable after the credits rolled?

And the term “explosive” can mean exciting too.

The announcement also mentions the Soviet dolls and the story they tell, hinting they are a clue to the ending.

It has been rumored that the mountain region will get control points in an update; this is the last update. These could be soviet control points or strongholds. And the Soviets have an assembly line of machines on the Island west of the mountain region. Like there is on Himfjall.

Looks at the starting post.
There is a new hint on discord.
Let’s find out the needed password.

Tried the FO4 mission keycard code from “The Hellmouth”, didnt work

As Carni said, the solution isn’t in the video.
But maybe it’s somehow related to the russian nesting dolls.

If it’s a date, it’s written in dd/MM/YYYY

It’s nice to get some teasers now. Finding a code is basically impossible if we don’t have a clue where to look. Patience that’s what we need, meaning we best wait for the next clue. :coffee:

I can see the posts coming in already asking how long they need to be patient for. It’s been like minutes since the last hint.

But @SR_Carni It would be nice if we get the hints here too on the forum, because i am too old to be able to scroll, read and keep up, while separating useful answers from the noise posts.

Hint #1: The password is one word, and it’s in Swedish

I am a secret FOA employee now. :coffee:
