If you set the movement keys to something other than the default WASD, your settings apply while walking/running, but the bike will still use WASD.
If you use “borderless window”, which curiously isn’t the default (in a multi-screen setup, it’s the only sane option, and in a single screen setup, it’s harmless?), the state after starting the game is “borderless” in, let’s be generous, 2/3 of the cases, and “fullscreen” in the others.
Ah, unfortunate. There seem to be a couple of things being hard coded in the game. Looks like one of the reasons map coordinates are off on ultra-wide.
It’s bad for performance (latency, interference with G-Sync), and multi-screen setups are among the rare ones. I am fine with it.
At least it should be consistent and stick to your settings. Sometimes Windows might do weird stuff and the game does find a seemingly different config on restart?
I thought we’d left that issue behind 30 years ago, to be honest.
But that’s not really the point, is it?
I’m not saying fullscreen shouldn’t be supported.
I’m saying it’s irritating to have each new game mess with the resolution. I can’t even begin to fathom what they were thinking when they said, oh yeah, let’s allow that.
It’s also irritating for the game to grab the mouse on start-up. Like, do you mind, I’m trying to work here.
Let me put it this way: The issue does not come up with other software.
Also, the weird forum software says I should not talk to you anymore.
The forum, besides thinking it’s a great idea to hijack the search hotkey, likes to give sanctimonious advice in the belief that we’re five year olds who’ve never had an unsupervised conversation before:
Consider replying to more people
You’ve already replied 3 times to @pegnose in this particular topic.
Have you considered replying to other people in the discussion, too? A great discussion involves many voices and perspectives.
Precisely.
Which is where I got the slider idea, IF implementable.
Or… the Game, Game+ and Game++.
A prefixed setting, true, but still versiatlity, even if moderately tuneable…
Since a Modkit is (still, who knows in the future) a no, well…
Sliders or 2, 3 additional game settings will address larger amounts of people…
+1
Great point!
Where do we, IF we go for sliders, draw the line…
Well, THAT… I can’t answer either…
EITHER the community will have to (which is NOT impossible), or Avalanche has to.
Still, a “decent” slider package with the base “needs” alone already might to magic.
Thoughts?
AHA, the perfect question.
First off: is it still the game they released?
A matter of taste right here already.
To some, yes, to others like me, hell no.
Some want this, others that, and I something even “otherder” than that.
Sliders (OMFG, not AGAIN (sorry folks)) might fix it for EVERYONE.
Do you disagree?
I mean, it would become “the game you ever wanted” for quite literally everyone.
How can that not be good…?
Who do you ask this question?
Avalanche?
Well: “if they provide the tools, it is upon the customer to take it from there, we only need it to have it working, as intended”, I think it might become.
The customers?
Well: “WOAH, Sliders, hell… leave it to me son, I’ll get you one helluva game!”, this might become.
Then, it might not.
Now, there are tools out there for other games.
TES/FO has the madly powerful Toolkit.
“We give you this toy, use it wisely, and please, don’t lose it!!!”
And the gamers do.
I THINK it would be just this with the sliders: a “strongly simplified toolkit”…
It would be up to us to use it well.
And FFS… DON’T LOSE IT!!!
Well, the QUALITY of the game does not alter, does it.
Only the game experience.
Changing values would not make a machine suddenly look ugly, or interfere with the inside of a house.
UNLESS that as well would become slider option of course.
Question is: would that be a ‘needed’ slider?
I do not know.
But: imagine, you struggle beyond anything with your enemies 9for whatever reason), you just CAN’T get it done: well… in comes the magic of the slider. slides the slider down
And behold… you suddenly CAN do it.
Or… the very opposite, for my case as example…
Slide it up, “cheat” it into overdrive, and voila: le jeux parfait! (the perfect game, translation).

Similar sliders for HP multiplier…
[/quote]for MP I would suggest the Server owner makes the call.
He can either meet in front and set a mutual agreed setting, or… have the others surprised 9in whatever way).
BUT that is me…
Scaling or Tick amount, fantasic point: Slider does all.
How can it be bad for performance?
System cannot handle it?
Slider does it all.
OR!
IF in MP… let someone else host?
About that: make MP Client Saving optional, a square that you can tick, so she/he does not lose that precious progress… if she/he chooses so.
I do not get it: do you mean restarting the game for a different config?
If so, the sliders would be “hot-sliders”, slide and done, no need for restart.
Or do you mean: slider settings not saved?
Hmmm yes, that could be an issue, corruption of the file for instance.
But that should be highly unlikely.
BTW: using the slider save you can save different slider settings.
Heck, it might even be made so it is controlled from within Settings.
Have for instance 5 save slots with different settings?
One for solo, one for farming, one for MP with one other, one for MP with 2 others, and one for MP with three others…
Or whatever you choose.
I don’t understand what you’re getting at.
The bicycle doesn’t exactly break the game and there aren’t missions that force you to use it. Just like storage containers, you don’t have to use it. Storage IS a popularly requested feature and I personally don’t find it to make it the game significantly easier.
In terms of barbie and tutu… Just like storage boxes and bicycles, it’s already in the game and if you don’t like it, don’t use it.
I’d say that your statement is quite the opposite: you are pissed off because the game isn’t what YOU like.
@Hogge
You missed the point, I think, sir.
A lot has changed since the early days, and sadly not optional.
I used the bikes as an example, and I am not saying “I want them gone”.
It would on the other side been nice if these were optional.
They are not, and even if I deactivate these in Settings, I find them in machines, or they mess up my radar…
Same for the Plundra.
So, your if you do not lie, do not use line is not quite correct…
Still:
They arrived, well, so be it, I’ll need to live with it.
That they however changed the machines into toys, THAT is something that DOES sit bad with me.
This could easily been done optionally.
Interesting: everyone here made positive posts, you then are angry.
I do get it, I think…
But you’re angry over something wrong, if I am not mistaken…
Now that’s unfair, in turn these posts are only positive to you because a lot of these posts agree with you, just because you get confirmation bias doesn’t mean the posts are in turn positive in any way shape or form, as actually what this became is a collection of the same members of the community, that have complained about the same facets of the game across multiple threads.
Just because someone disagrees with you does not make their post negative.
Not saying your guys complaints aren’t valid, so untwist your panties. But on the other hand, most of these posts are inherently quite negative.
My $0.02 regarding the difficulty level:
I agree that the machine AI might be a bit lacking, and unrealistic in a sense. A true war machine would try to kill you in an instant, and certainly be more aggressive than the machines in the game.
I think that the lacking AI is what makes GZ a game and not a war simulation. I believe most people play games as a distraction from reality, for a couple of hours on their spare time. That also means that most people don’t have the time and energy (and sometimes not even the skill) to handle a realistic combat situation in a game like GZ.
Perhaps a ‘simple’ slider that could tweak the machines’ aggression level could suffice, but I doubt that it’s as simple as that in the game code.
@haxxlinus
Indeed, I too do not know just how difficult it is.
Hence the secondary suggestion for 2 or three difficulty levels, like some other games have…
Xogger multiple threads by yourself every where i go in this forum , with your lenthy posts and people having to answer because of your constant quotes per message , the whole forum is just full of it , i have tried to like and appreciate your input but there is so much of you ! , nobody else’s post gets a look .
With my modding analogy (‘the’ game…) I was arguing exactly against this.
Ennui was afraid that exactly that would be a really difficult task. And the game is unstable already.
And finally I think that many new players would be completely overwhelmed with a set of 20 sliders. Imagine not having fun because the game is too hard. But you are just level 2 and have no idea of the mechanics. How are you supposed to adjust the game? Many would probably prefer a single difficulty slider.
We were talking about borderless vs. exclusive fullscreen for fps and latency effects.
Again, this was pure display config. You appear to be on a hot streak, Xog!
Aye cheers , i was pointing out what most are thinking , people new and time served here will come and see xoggers constant quesioning and be gone in seconds , taking multiple peoples post and reposting them with questions is not a crime, but its just everywhere. cheers
