Companion and pUpdate (18-07-2023) discussion (Spoilers)

hello, do you need the dlc to be able to increase the levels? plataform PC

Dlc is required for the rest yes. Really wish they would just make it so DLC stuff you dont own dont appear in the schematics menu.

If I am not mistaken, the players asked to have outlines of how many schematics are still missing and so all the schematic trees are the same.

Before the way it is done now was hard to figure out what you didnā€™t have in apparel schematics. Adding the DLC outlines is an reminder you need to buy more stuff. But once you get all the base stuff you donā€™t need to look there anymore if it is to tempting.

No, the regular armor. The first column in the picture of @mortutu post.

Yes, that armour is the weakest 4*, but still rather good against the lesser machines. For Fire protection the 4* DLC fire retardant armour is best suited. But people should not expect to have an invincible buddy, for balancing reasons. From what I read so far, people are never satisfied with the helpfulness and the armour damage absorption of the companion.

My approach is to better the odds for my buddy, by flanking and disabling the weapons of the enemies.Because heā€™s not the smartest we have to protect him. :bone:

To actually unlock the schematics, yes. Imho that should have been marked somewhere that these 3 columns are DLC related, like in the other treesā€¦

But to gather schematic points by fighting together with your companion I guess no, every fight provides some points

Thatā€™s what I do, too, trying to disable the most dangerous weapons first to ease the ā€œpainā€ of my companion as much as I can.

Btw since we canā€™t change the armour in the field or add some extra components to it, it would be nice to have some compound armour that provides better resistances against all three types of damage.

That would indeed be nice compromise. I tend not only use the Ballistics Armour for now.
Maybe on HimfjƤll I would equip the 4* Fire Retardant armour. I havenā€™t experienced that Apoc power against my buddy yet, but I expect it to be brutal.

Need a way to repair armor in combat as well even if it ends up a skill or tool. I find myself skipping armor once it breaks the 1st time since itā€™s easier to heal them and plan for them in the fighting. With armor as it is now I need to carry 1 per fight but canā€™t even install any of the spares. Iā€™m hoping the armor idea leads to player armor toohint hint but armor repair definitely needs to be a thing 1st. Installing armor shouldnā€™t require a station visit though. Nothing else needs a station visit to be equipped aside from the companion. I get needing the station to build it but not adding guns or armor. Making the station needed for equipping things to the pet is slowing itā€™s effective game play.

Maybe it could be where you can craft more than one armor at a time and use them from a slot as needed.

You already can do that.
Any additional Armors You craft at the Companion Station is stored in your backpack, not within the Companion Station.

However DLC Companion Armors are invisible in Your Inventory, Plundra, Recycling Station.
But will show when you Transfer Inventory between yourself and you Companion
Each weight 1.0

Ohhh. I did not know that. I donā€™t use armor on my pet. It is cheaper to craft and use repair kits. And easier after a battle to repair a destroyed pet and have it instantly active then. The motor bike if use to get to a big battle seems to always get destroyed too, so already carry extra kits, just a little more than double now. Also, because I use the runner to carry remote turrets, every two reapers I have to craft more of those, plus exp ammo (if I have the uranium), sometimes fuel and so on. But it is all things I do while waiting for areas of my map to reset.

I am starting to think I play a lot differently than most on here.

No one else just farm reapers, low level rivals and bases?

I use Armor for my Companion, but that is also because i prefer the Look of My Companion Runner equipped Armor, rather then when it doesnā€™t have Armor.
Even though the Armor do not fit most of the Paint jobs, aside the Default ā€œResistanceā€ and "Blue ā€œthunderā€.

But i also think the Armor system is flawed in in Current Design.

  • With itā€™s costs of Armor compared to Repair Kits which is up to x5-30 in costs, but only about x2-5 in durability.
  • That we canā€™t re-fit Armor in the fields, despite we might be carrying extras in our backpack (some probably do without knowing).
  • That Armor canā€™t be switched between without destroying the currently equipped, since no item have no item ingame Store Durability of 1-99%
with the exceptions being: our Companion Runnerā€™s Health and Armor. and our Motor Bikes Durability and Fuel.
  • Without Armor the Companion Runner is very fragile, even to a couple of Runners with machine gunsā€¦

That is probably why you generally carry your runner in your backpack
and deploy it as a Scavenger or to carry specific items.

I think Iā€™s a Good thing we play the Game different. ^.~
But also have different specializations

I Farm up Rivals Till they are Max Level and then go Hunt them with my Friend
I have not Destroyed Bases for a whileā€¦ as they have not seemed to Rebuild for a while anymore <.<

Unfortunately, I have to admit that I am disappointed with the content of the update. For the first time in 2 years. The machine doesnā€™t really help me, but it forces me to collect points again so that it can be used to some extent. I still have to collect thousands of points so that I can complete the other parts of the game. And you have to collect the points over a long period of time if you donā€™t have time to play 8 hours a day, seven days a week. Unfortunately, the update underlines and reinforces the repetitive character of the game for me. Collecting even more points canā€™t be the only goal of the game, can it?

I guess, thatā€™s what most wanted: Something to do, and something to search for and to find or get.

About AI and the beviours I would say that it just needs more experiences. We need to do more playtesting and give more (constructive) feedback about the companions to get them improved in future.

all on his own and fighting & level 4 armor ā€˜ā€™ā€™ my little doggie can take down the entire Base Defense Mission easy ā€˜ā€™ā€™ without dying

So you become a spectator and just watch from the side lines like watching the Soviets and Sweden machines battle it out. Its like watching a video of someone else playing?

I donā€™t care to much for the pet runner to be stronger and withstand more damage, but it would nice if it is a little smarter in a battle, like marks targets that are closest to owner, stay in cover and dodge in coming fire like we can do with the rockets and machine gun fire. It already has the speed, just needs to move. Sometimes it just needs to turn and face the other machines. Reason the runner is our pet is they are small, fast and agile, when we going to see that in our pets?

Edit a few hours later: I can see an update with a system already in place and we all know how it works. There are different ā€œspecialistsā€ skill sets like the beginner players pick to build their character. I want mine to be a commando. As my runner builds up skill points I can spend them on increasing stealth, faster aim, more bullet resistant, and so on. And this would be updated DLC for the runner already was released. Would make it one of the best DLCs since the release of the exp weapons and reaper.

The modules in play now would be what is skill tree upgradable by spending runner skill points still upgrade armor the same but with even more % wise as skills are added. And there are 4 modules so you can trade modules and up grade them too like we can upgrade each of our 4 characters. Each module would only get like 3,4,5? upgrades. And each module skill set one be a command or two.

Played for some hours today after the console hotfix (solo). No crash. My little spotter was quite busy, never picked him up.

Good work so far. :+1:

Played on PC/steam public co-op for a few hours. Full house most the time but a few players left and didnā€™t come back so donā€™t think they crashed out. We had our runners out and no problems that I noticed.
was nice and relaxing destroying 3 reapers with all the machines with them, so lots of looting.

Btw
My exp. AG4 did fire damage.
I love this sound of a component cracking on a burning hunter.

And I also had no issues while using my exp KVM59 (to be sure not with shock ammo).
