Frequent Crashes / Endless Crashing - Please Help!

On that PC setup GZ should blast past 60FPS on 4K with ease.

Did you try doing a fresh install of the game?

He just recently bought and installed the game, on my recommendation, whereas I bought the game a while ago, but we both had the most recent update which had no negative impact on my game, and yes it should play the game with relative ease.
I have asked him to try checking that his PC is running the game on the GPU only or if it is trying to use the internal graphics card and CPU, which could explain the shutdown, perhaps that may be the issue, if not i’m clueless.

I don’t think so. He would had to have his monitor connected to motherboard HDMI/DisplayPort instead of the ones on GPU.

So after a fresh install, verifying game files, checking all graphics card settings, pretty much checking everything he can, it still runs poorly, he get high framerates but it is stutters all the time, making the game unplayable for him.
when he has OBS open for the game he has a huge amount of frames missed due to rendering lag, what makes it even more confusing is that he is able to play and stream Cyberpunk on max with RTX without any issues at all. needless to say he is less than happy about this.

PSU make and model (or part number) is?

Another thing to try: switch monitors between PCs. Issue could be with the 4K monitor.

is the wrong video card selected, Game crashes still making the game completely unplayable just tryin to help

He has tried using a 1080p monitor it didn’t make a difference, the PSU is a Corsair 650w, on both.

He has checked the correct video card is being used, and tried turning everything on an off in the 3d settings it made no difference, the game stutters really bad for him and if he tries to stream it he is dropping frames by the thousands, every other game he plays/streams works fine even Cyberpunk with RTX on, no issues, it’s just Generation Zero that’s janky for him.

Well, that doesn’t tell much since there are plethora of Corsair 650W units out there, from crap build quality to great build quality.
E.g: VS, CX, CXm, Vengeance M, TX, TXm, CSm, RM, RMx, RMi, HX, AX. And even within the same model, there are different versions. For example: CX green label, CX gray label.
Here, best is when you can give the part number of a PSU (it’s written on the label). This way, i can look up the exact unit.

Me asking this, is because i think the PSU isn’t capable of keeping the PC running on high loads. And here, it doesn’t matter what the PSU max wattage output is, since when PSU has crap build quality, it will fail to keep the PC running when proper load is put on the PSU (e.g gaming).

For example; if i were to tell you that i have Seasonic 650W PSU, it doesn’t tell you much about it. However, if i were to include my PSU part number: SSR-650TD, you can look it up and see that i have PRIME 650 (80+ Titanium) PSU in use, with 12 years of warranty. And if you were to read PSU reviews, you can learn that it’s the best 650W PSU money can buy, with mythical levels of performance (compared to other PSUs).

wish I could be of more help on that one, but as he lives at least a good 800 miles away, I really cant say, all I can say is that it runs and streams Cyberpunk2077 on ultra with RTX on without skipping a beat, so I guess I can assume from that the PSU is powerful enough, (I can tell you my what my PSU is but as I can run the game fine, that would be pointless) but Generation Zero is the ONLY game his system will not run smoothly.

He isn’t using DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) by any chance?

Reason why i asked about the PSU is this:

No game can shut down or reboot the PC. Only crap/low build quality PSUs are capable of that. And using a bad PSU has consequences, bad ones. Even terrible ones.

And while your systems may have almost same hardware in it, something is still completely different. Else-ways, GZ would either jitter on both PCs or run fine on both PCs.

Btw, having top-of-the-line hardware doesn’t mean much. E.g i have 6th gen Core i5 with GTX 1660 Ti and i have 0 issues running GZ. Then again, i’ve fine tuned my rig (both hardware and software wise) and it is also bloatware free. Latter, bloatware, can be the issue for him though.

Oh, cooling wise, saying “Corsair AIO” doesn’t mean much either. If you and he have 120mm or 140mm rad AIO, then CPU is undercooled. If the AIO rad is 240mm then it has decent cooling. Though 280mm rad would be much better off.

I get what you are saying, that’s why we are scratching our heads, there seems to be no apparent reason for the game not running smoothly, but as he was streaming on Twitch it was seen by more than just myself, I also briefly streamed to show him I had zero issues on ultra settings and showed him my settings to show it was unlikely to be the game.

As for cooling I believe he has a 240mm rad I have a smaller radiator as its a smaller case, and have (so far ) had no issues with cooling on the CPU temps never going above mid 40’s under load.

Bloatware is a possibility, I will ask him, failing that we are at a loss for a reason, it just doesn’t make sense to me. I agree something must be different, we just can’t figure out what.

He is the only person I know that has this issue with the game.

If given that hardware is sound, the issue must be in the software. Bloatware is one of the options. However, there can be different programs as well that infringe with GZ specifically. Though, finding that one piece of software is one tedious and time consuming thing to do.

Fastest and easiest way would be doing clean Win install. This removes all software issues there could be (including malware).

Maybe he is one of the unlucky ones?

I have done everything from initializing PS4 to re-updating system to deleting game and installing again. I have even had to delete profile and start over. I love the game , in fact it’s the first game since ps1 that I’ve gotten all trophies for. It keeps me playing. Please for the betterment of the community fix these issues first

Merged with main thread regarding crashes.

//Mod

I co op with my friend he’s On PS4 I play PS5, recently himfjall island is constantly causing his game to crash, It’s happened ever session over the last month, so much so we can’t play together on island. I am not having any issues on my system apart from the phantom machine sounds but I have never known it be this unstable on PS4 host, I really hope this is fixed with update as the island is one of the best areas to farm and still looks great!

Most likely to do with this issue: Game crashes when traveling to/from Tarnboda Skans to nearby areas

My friend and I got a Reaper to spawn. It’s been an absolute nightmare crash-fest, with each of us taking turns with the game crashing, mid battle. We restart, craft more ammo, and we have depleted our resources for making ammo, explosives, and first aid kits, and we were both fully stocked with resources to begin with. Now, we have to farm resources just to get back in the fight, only to have the game crash over and over and over and over and over.

This is a game breaking issue. Very, very disheartening, and disappointing.

THIS will be the final straw for this game. With all the bugs, crashes, terrible UI, I won’t be playing anymore. I’ll come back when I hear that the crashing (which has plagued this game from day one) has been fixed. But I doubt this will happen.

Would like to say GG, but not really.
