I’ve enjoyed this game for many years, but now, I’ve been running into issues where machines are no longer dropping loot (especially the Titan, Tyrant, and Rival machines). Also, in a co-op game, my friend cannot seem to use my field radios, and vice versa, which makes it frustrating in maintaining a battle. Mopeds are pretty near useless now, and the only use I find for the utility Flakmoped (storage, crafting, recycling) is spawning them as an extension of safehouses/bases where I might not have crafting and recycling facilities.
As I understand it, the devs are no longer supporting this game, so without any support to fix this now broken game, I guess it’s time to give it up. It’s been fun while it lasted. If there is a Gen Zero 2 in the works, I doubt I will allow myself to get suckered into it.
To be honest I play this game all the time and have never experienced any of these issues personally, not to say there aren’t a ton of bugs right now, but all the bugs you listed I’ve never had happen before. I’ve heard of the field radio bug though, guess I’m lucky enough to never have it happen.
…and the thing is, I really don’t want to stop playing this game. For all its flaws, it is a great game to relax to, as Gysbert pointed out. Just gets frustrating when you have a long, hard-fought battle against a Vulture, only to find that when you run up to it to get the goodies, its inventory is empty. My last battle with a Vulture went that way, not every battle. But it is frustrating when you tackle beastly machines, and
have nothing to show for it.
I’m sure it’s not a widespread issue, just like when new games get released, you’ll see a slew of gripes about the game’s execution or playability, and it turns out you have a copy that is not producing the problems that others have listed, even if you got the game before any corrective patches have been made. I have heard of (and experienced now) both issues about machines not dropping loot, and field radios not working in multiplayer co-op, but it probably doesn’t happen to everyone.
The good is, everything is replaceable.
Well, some loot is more rare than others, but nothing is as unique or as overpowered to be frustrated about having missed a chance to get it.
There are no unique bosses or weapons and items.
If you already played for a good time you’ll probably have got everything or at least almost everything. And still, there is nothing that is the super gamechanger.
By that we have many many possibilities to do our fights. And who loves fighting the machines will keep on fighting. Not for the loot, but for the fight…
Well said. I will say that my armament in my personal inventory is either Special (Yellow) or Experimental, so you’re most likely right that there is little more to offer, and none of that game- changing. The only thing I’m seeking to do right now is get my Power Jabs for my Exceptional Pitchfork, which has 100% EMP effect, but getting the Power Jabs up to 100% speed will be nice. I’m only 10 uranium away from that goal, but I need to try and get some land areas to respawn neutral bases to enemy bases so I can get that uranium.
Martok, please feel free to add your $.02 to this thread here:
. . . some of us are trying to organize info into a ranked list of bugs the community would most like to see fixed. We know it may not produce anything, but, well, it can’t hurt!
A new EU regulation is set to come into force on December 9, 2026.
Quote: "The European Union has introduced new regulations on liability for products. This is the first time that a directive that has been in force since 1985 is being adapted. Until now, programs and apps were not legally considered a “product.” That will now change.
As a result, software providers will be liable for security gaps and errors in programs in the future - and vice versa, users will be able to receive compensation for bugs in the future."
Probably doesn’t count for older software products, so won’t help much for GZ in future.
And at the same time it sounds like a death sentence for smaller studios.
For bigger companies too. They will most likely not sell their products in countries that will enforce those new laws. So in the end we as gamers in Europe will be screwed too.
So now I can understand why GZ development is stopped with that horrible deadline of 2026 nearing.
I read up on the EU-Directive (So not a EU-regulation, but each country have come up with their own set rules on how to handle it). And I took just two interesting points, that shows that people must proof that they have had damage. (I don’t think that losing money is seen as damage)
The new Product Liability Directive updates and adapts the EU’s liability rules for new technologies, ensuring better protection for victims and greater legal certainty for economic operators.
The Product Liability Directive ensures that victims can claim compensation from manufacturers when they suffer damage caused by a defective product.
This directive is based on 2 main principles
the manufacturer has to compensate the damage caused by a defective product of theirs
the victim has to prove the product’s defectiveness, the damage that was caused and establish that this defectiveness was the cause of the damage
What types of damage must be compensated?
The rules under the directive are applicable from the moment one of the main damages have been suffered, namely
death or personal injury, which includes physical and psychological harm
damage to property
destruction or corruption of data
The victim is entitled to claim compensation for any of the main types of damage and all the losses resulting from them.
I suspect that bodily harm can come from software that operates machinery, like car, and machines in a factory and such. Not from games worth 50/80 dollars which are not working properly.
That’s a great positive attitude Måns and close to my heart. And I can see it would be extra special if people are native to the land where the game is taking place.
Wasn’t it you who had over 6000 hours of gameplay, or was that another Swede?
I intend to reach that number at the end of this year.
