Ideas about adding some Narrative to the game?

Funny thing, after we had the discussion that Kenneth should not be at two different places at the same time, now it seems the dev changed it, and kenneth is no longer at Averholm Orchard.

Can somebody confirm that kenneth is indeed gone from the Apple Barn near Sorken bunker?

Some ideas seem a bit too much complicated or advanced, too much “deep”
And as things are now, with vehicles, experimental weapons, augmentations and new ncps i suggest instead easy stuff like :

  • Battles between Swedish forces and Spetsnaz Units
  • Continuation of Fnix Conquest story
  • Some conclusion to the Soviet machines broken Loop A.I directives and surviving Soviet units.

Suggestion of a GZ 2 in 2027 so that we can actually finish the story and have new Islands and factions (Yeh right in our dreams :eyes:  )

Don’t forget a new engine.
Destroyable structures and landscape, cities with skyscapers, new machines,…

Im already “asking” for something really difficult, you are asking for impossible…its curious that we in general have almost 0 modern games with destroyable environments, cant even remember anything in the last 10 years besides Battlefield and the new Teardown game.
Before that, Red faction and Mercenaries games, its been abandoned by the gaming industry since then.

Another piece in the story which need more info is, who is responsible, for the involvement of the Swedish Army, in the disappearance of the evacuees?

In the mission “Another Castle”, we learn from Therese and Pontus’s conversations that the Army in somehow involved. Some kind of inside job? We also find Dr. Sköld’s report about the effects of the gas.

THERESE: Clearly, several soldiers were having doubts about the weird orders they got. The Army… does this mean our Army is involved in this, Pontus?

PONTUS: I… I don’t know anything about any of this, I promise. To me it feels like the enemy knew everything about us: our protocols, our communication channels. And they attacked from within.

THERESE: Sleeping gas?! Why would the Army bring that to a bunker full of people? Is that why everyone’s vanished?

THERESE: So all the people were really in that bunker, but our own Army sneaked in sleeping gas canisters, and… made everyone go into a coma? I can’t believe this…

PONTUS: I’m so sorry, Therese. I really don’t know what part the Army played in all of this.

Discuss: So what do you think is the story here?

I believe that was before we knew that the machines were a swedish development.

That’s why “the enemy” knew all that.

And I believe that some of these weird orders were faked by FNIX. We still don’t know what really happened to the inhabitants, but we know the screams at bunker 66"6".

So maybe FNIX tried to get access to living humen… maybe as ressource. Maybe because of their brains, maybe just to examine how humen “work”.

I just hope that this part of the story will be continued somehow.

Do you know if the screams are still there if we started a new game? I believe that the screams are now gone, but I haven’t checked if the screams are still there if I started a new game. I will have to check.

It is very likely that Orders were faked by FNIX, but I still wonder if there could be some human involvement here too.

However, Therese also says this:

THERESE: The gas canisters were delivered on the 10th. That’s when everything went to shit.
Shipment ID FNIX”? What the heck does that mean, Pontus?

PONTUS: No idea, sorry. Maybe an operation code name. It has something to do with all of this, that’s for sure.

I believe they’re gone, too. At least the last time I didn’t notice them anymore. Maybe they depend on time or weather

Faked by FNIX, that’s what I guess. FNIX prepared the operations itself.

My guess too, there isnt a reason for the army to just do this, FNIX probably sent orders posing as command or something

Well, I checked just now in new game, and the sounds are not there. But I also checked the averholm Orchard, and there is at new game, only a barn, the spooky atmosphere only appears after we do the “Growing Tree” mission I guess. Maybe the creams also only appear after certain missions are done.

I didn’t check it in a new game yet, but the last times I were there in my world 1, there also were no such sounds at bunker 666.

Problem is we only know for sure if we play all missions from scratch. But that would be cool to do while we wait for something new. Hopefully some more narrative to fill in gaps of info.

I wonder why this was added. “Dead trees on top of a cave” set piece. In the cave you can see the roots coming through the cave ceiling. They died because of lack of water and nourishment. Not a good place for trees to grow. There’s death inside the cave as well.

b.t.w. I’m also a pro Voice over.

So if you need me, I’ll do GZ VO’s for free

The pugilist enigma

I strongly believe that this photo of a pugilist is another dev tribute. The photo is prominently placed in an Iron Church scene in Room 301. While it might be mistaken for a picture of the Pope of the Iron Church, the likeness isn’t quite right. It seems possible that a developer who like boxing, and who worked on the Room 301 scene left the company, and that the GZ-Team included his photo as a tribute.

Please discuss if you have other ideas.

Additionally, Room 301 features the typical Iron Church weights together with “Stick!” graffiti. This suggests that the “Iron Church” faction is also responsible for the Swedish warning texts (“Stick!”) found throughout the GZ-world, similar to the several hunter sword scenes we encounter.

After re-examining all the different clues about the identity of the person behind the growing tree faction (apple murders) I am now quite sure that we can definitely identify the Guy based on Lore clues.

Spoiler

The person behind the apple murders in Kenneth Larsson who currently resides in the ringfort.
Kenneth must have gone crazy because of what happened to his family.

The most compelling evidence is that Kenneth’s family home at Pärlsjövägen 1 is the same address where The Growing Tree asked people to bring apples in exchange for food and other resources.
Kenneth in his role as Apple murderer wore a gasmask and raincoat to avoid recognition, however his tenger build and height fit that of the teenager Kenneth Larsson.

  • Motive
His parents and brother Hendrik vanished from their car
and his Aunt: Dr. Ingrid Granqvist got murdered in her kitchen

It’s still not clear to me why Kenneth resorted in killing humans and not machines, and why the peculiar apple rituals? And if the name “The growing Tree” has a deeper meaning or not.
His victims range from Swedish military, Soviet military, Resistance members, Iron church members/ civilians)

Please discuss…

I guess it’s a mix of madness, bad experiences and revenge, but I’m no profiler.

I am not a profiler either, but we still could speculate why the murders on humans. Together we know more. I don’t know if the apple murderer has the full picture of what led up to Cataclysm day, but if he does he might blame the military and Holberg for making FNIX happen.

Maybe he also blames the Averholm Apple Cider company for escalating the power struggle between humans & FNIX. That company’s family are probably the leaders of the Iron Church and that might be a reason for the apple rituals?

I had some more thought about “The Growing Tree” Faction. He thinks he’d save this wretched world with his rituals. What if the Apple ritualist did not kill people, but was making use of the corpses which are found all over the place? Would that not be more believable?

So what do you think; does the guy kill people for his rituals or is it likely that he uses corpses?

Then there is the case of the murdered (fraternal) twins, where we needed to investigate the clues to find out more about the twins and solve the double murder.

1st clue: The twins were both shot by a single shot to the back of the head at point blank range. So not by machines, nor by an axe.

2nd clue: We find a Blackmail letter, it says:

3rd Clue: On Dot-Matrix printer:

We don’t want to play with you anymore, Daniel.

  1. What did Lisa & Louis know, that Ingvar was the Axe murderer?
  2. Are the dead fraternal twins Lisa & Louis?
  3. What is the significance of the dot matrix text?
