Map of the GZ world with labelling

There are hot spots in most of the regions that you can fast travel to and get into a fight quickly. But listing them in the past, players started to whine that they were “bugged and glitches” with to many machines to destroy quickly, the Dev then take the machines away, look at ANL 118 for example. I have old screen shots of the area having tons of harvesters, tanks and hunters in large masses just outside the hanger doors, now you have to head east or west to find any action. And that is only if you know where to find the groups of machines in the area.

If you could work with layers, that can be activated/deactivated, that would be great…

I do work with layers. But I always merge my output file to a single one, to get the smallest file size for sharing.

I wonder how you think that switching could work, because you need the original program, I guess.
But let’s first see how it works out when I just add hotspots (in a layer of course) and merge to output file for sharing. I remember that you once had a problem loading the file on your phone because it was too big.

With everything I add the file gets bigger. Can you still view the file on your phone direct from Google drive? Because it’s no longer ~16 Mb. I can’t on my phone. So I downloaded the map to the phone, and that works great.

Here an example of how I would do hotspots. It would just be a highlighted circle of the area concerned.

I just picked a color and made it 50% transparent. Still thinking what color would be best so that it’s not too distracting or too loud.

I know.

I don’t know what possibilities are there.
It was just an Idea, not just for these hotspots, but in general, to be able activate/deactivate certain layers.

Yeah, there was such an issue.

Yes, I can.

Since it is a hot spot for machines, use the same color as the class of machines to expect in the hotspots.

BTW, looks like you already knew of the area around the church.

That’s not as easy at every place I guess, because of the transparency of the layer.
In general I would agree, but let’s define the colors here. FNIX Military and soviet Scout(?) would be both green otherwise.

Dang it Gysbert!! Why you gotta be so awesome?!!

Actually, thank you buddy! Great work! :+1:

 I think I have seen all hotspots, but I haven’t listed them. Also I do not know what you consider hotspots. That’s why I ask a little help of the community by listing them.

I see difficulty for color matching the classes in the area. Wouldn’t hotspots have different classes at the same hotspot?

Maybe you could create an icon similar to the FNIX bases icon.

The color could represent if there may be machines of FNIX, soviets or both.

And there could be another indicator (the form of the shape) for the (mostly) expected classes at that location.

Like a triangle for Prototype/Scout,
A square for Military/soldier and
A pentagon for FNIX/apoc/speznaz

Edit: (The more edges, the higher the expected class)

And a circle for everything randomly

I try to make some examples later.

A special icon…maybe.
But I think I (we) first need to concentrate on gathering hotspot locations and the machines we find there.

Dang Gysbert, I come back to the forums feeling nostalgic and thinking it would be completely dead and inactive. You hit me with more updates to this useful tool. I been playing a bit the last few days mainly trying to find cool spots to take screenshots but any help I can provide give me a shout.

Yes. A number of the hot spots have different classes at different times and sometimes all of them that could be there, are there at one time.

I tried to jump to a few of the old hot spots of the past. Most of them still had machines just outside the safe house I traveled to. But to see what machines were there, I got more involved in destroying the machines than remembering the class and direction to travel from the safe house.

And I also don’t pay much attention to the names of the areas I traveled. Like the air base and once you get on the airfield, you can travel east or west and run into a small battle and it could be from zero machines, a lone runner, to 2 tanks to the east, a harvester with hunters and runners north, to a harvester with runners and hunters west. May even be a tank pop in as you take on the harvester. The air base can be the busiest or the deadest area.

Hi Denny, good to see you returning to the old Forum. We had some great times exploring the Gz-world. :coffee:

About the Map, I have been keeping it up to date all the time the best I can. By doing that I have seen many small and big topographical changes which were a lot of work to implement on the existing Map. But I love doing this.

The game has evolved a lot, and It is still my favorite game. But we need new stuff.
As you can read we are trying to get a list of all hotspots where for sure always machines are. Once I have the coordinates I can put these hotspots on the map. If you want to help, just post the locations. For now I’m only interested in the locations, and not so much what kind of machines roam there.

Hi Gys. I’m just the same, popped back to have a look and see if there is any new of the next update.

Marking hotspots is a great idea! I’ll have hunt round on my next run through and see if I can spot anything new…

Stenmyra! The whole area can be a hotspot if you visit after the region has reset. Just head for the closest machine noise. Firebirds, Wolves and company, always 2 tanks to the north, northwest. Hunters mixed with lynx to the east and southeast. Firebirds are very common and can get up to 3 at a time. Most always, all the loot boxes and soldiers have some nice loot too. Good area to rack up regional points to spawn things but you have to loot on the go because there can be a lot of machines.

Most all the safe houses in the marshlands region have machines not to far from the safe houses and you can hear most of them from the safe house.

A location I would like to put down is Hällabacken farm / Prison (South coast region)

I particularly like approaching this spot from the lighthouse as there is normally a few runners outside and a hunter for a warm up followed by a pack of fnix hunters as you get closer to the farm leading to a build up to the big fight.

Around the farm / prison area itself I find there is normally 1-2 Tanks ( FNIX and Apocalypse ) and sometimes a Harvester.

I particularly like this area as well because it seems to get the best thunderstorms in my opinion leading to many memorable battles in this wide open area and a very nice area for screenshots.

I attempted to add one of my screenshots here but it was being awkward and not uploading properly so maybe another time

Nice to see you back on the forum.
Anything new would be great. :coffee:

I think that I have a go at the hotspots this weekend. Make a start. I can always add or change them. Hopefully my program keep loading the map with all its layers.

Another place to farm hunters (regional points) on the south coast is Angsnäs Manor. It is south of the church safe house, which normally has tanks and harvesters to the East, West and north also. But the manor is a place where you can keep triggering the hunters to spawn back at the manor repeatedly.

The south coast WAS a place where you could spawn a reaper. Close your game and a good chance when you start the game again the reaper would have jumped to the arena in the Marshlands. Something I have repeated more than a few times. But the update changed the way to spawn reapers so those fights will never happen again.
