Most, if not all Experimental Weapons need to be Nerfed

I completely disagree with this entire thread. (Experimental Weaponry is fine.)

So this is for the non military people the pvg 90 is a .50 cal which is designed in real life to destroy armour so it’s doing its job and working as it should and if anyone has fired one in combat you would understand that, just making a point that’s all before people get upset by this post

True, but the experimental version is even more powerful, and you can find it very early in the game, which changes the whole experience of the game that is to a large extent based on atmosphere. This is a major part of the criticism.

When you have reached a very high level and enemies starting to get a real nuisance (with increased squad size and amount of enemies joining fights and all), they are basically fine (even if some of us don’t like their appeal).

I agree people are getting it at low levels and that really shouldn’t be the case and experimentals should come from level 4 rivals only, maybe the dev’s will find a way to prevent this in the future

Also somebody else did mention the AI and they are correct the robots are dumb 90% of the time

I encountered the first hunter together with a buddy and it scared us sh*tless and was super hard to defeat at first. It was a prototype one, but we did not have a shotgun so far.

This is was GZ is supposed to be. For me.

I do believe weapons could use a review.
Klaucke, even the bloody Moller, outdoes the .44 by far (gold versions and earlier, the Exp Klaucke is unfair to use as example).
And not just for the damage!!!
Range, accuracy… some could use a bit of tweaking.

Yes, Exp .50 I think is OP damage wise.
However, the working of the weapon seems spot on (if it were the gold version).
A Gauss rifle would shoot at Mach 7, given enough power it could be shot at the speed of nigh light!!!
I believe the Gold AK is also OP, compared to other rifles.
Now, I speak of “reality based” things, brought into GZ.
This means, adapted to GZ’s game limitations, “balance”.
And here things go VERY bad, as most people “feel” different.
Emotion should not cloud your judgement, but it nigh always does.
To me too.
“You can ask for TOO much reality” I heard in the past.
True…
Taste is the issue, as the Romans said: De gustibus non est disputandum", one cannot discuss taste.
I like pie, you like sausage, another pancakes.
Which one is better?

This too is why I keep reverting to “reality” adapted to game.
“Too much reality”.
BUT…
As reality is just that, reality, things somewhat are set in stone, and often that is what ‘eliminates discussion’…

Or… do I see this wrong?
Taste again…
To ME a realistic approach is ‘scientifically’ more appropriate.
To you… who knows?
Up to you to decide.

Part of the problem is that there is an endless supply of machines.

If the number of machines is small, fights can be hard and lengthy.

If the number of machines is huge, they must become cannon fodder, if we wish to complete the game without our lifetime.

Sausage. Should be self-evident.

@pegnose

I’m going to pretend you never said that, sir.
:stuck_out_tongue:

I think the game needs different difficulties levels to please the elite players and so the weapons and robots feel in sync with each other and the casual players dont get punished for just wanting to play

That would be real neat.

It would basically affect the response time of enemies to your (changing) location and the damage they deal. Enough for scaling.

I like sausage too.

Me too. Sausage is good. And pancakes. And pie. Wonder what’s in the fridge … :hotdog::pancakes::cake::yum:

YES!!!
I agree.

@pegnose
Here as well.

Seems I have been… "outsausaged*
I surrender… XD

Probably, yes. Though personally, I might be happier if I could affect the machines’ HP/armor rather than the damage output. I’m happy enough to dodge enemy fire, but everything seems to take so long!

I know what you mean, it feels that way. But, from the top of my head…

Take-down times hidden for spoilers
  • ticks: 1 shot mostly
  • runners: 1 shot or a 1-2 sec spray from a good full-auto weapon
  • hunters: 1 extended mag spray from behind from a good full-auto weapon after you dove under its jump attack
  • harvester: 6 (?) extended mag sprays from a good full-auto weapons to vital components (1-2x the rocket launchers until they pop, 2x to the knee caps, the rest in the back), takes not much more than a minute which is really low for such a huge machine
  • tank: ok, this one takes a while unless you pepper it with the exp pvg90 from afar; there should be one bullet sponge I guess

All of this depends on the weapons, of course.

I disagree. The game is balanced as it is. Further, I see it as payback for all those times the robots killed me in the beginning. It’s time for them to taste their own medicine.

I do get the same feeling more recently.

No, it really isn’t. A .50 cal is what Thunderbolts used to shoot up armoured convoys with. The Exp may be about where a 1* .50 cal should be, but even then it drops off with range. A Thunderbolt would have engaged an armoured convoy at 600-800 metres and wiped out everything in it. I’ve had to shoot a Dog at centre of mass four or five times at 300 metres. The .50 cal sniper rifle IRL is a beast. You’d go through your target and nine of his friends at over 1,000 metres - that is what it is for.

Even the 7.62 would go through three or four people at 600. The 7.62 round will go through 9 feet of solid oak, and 12 feet of solid pine.

Now, you shouldn’t be able to pick them up early in the game. That much is profoundly true.
