There also needs to not be 20 of them showing up out of nowhere…and they need to not be able to clip into buildings, and shoot through walls, and not be able to spam gas, and rockets, and missiles, and not be able to spot you from a half a kilometer out, and summon every machine in a 10 kilometer radius…
someone mentioned earlier that the comments were pretty much the same on Steam they’re actually worse there’s a lot of cussing and game bashing out of 78 comments I only saw three favorable
I don’t know if the Devs are reading these forums (I certainly hope so…if not, they should) but I’d like them to understand this:
I really appreciate the effort you’ve put into this game - development is a difficult task at the best of times (I’ve done it) and things don’t always go as planned even for larger dev teams (> Bethesda <). I’ve read the recent reviews on Steam and this is what I was afraid of…for a lot of new players this “April Patch” behavior is their only experience of the game and it’s a negative one.
Here’s the upshot: this is NOT a bad game - in actuality I think it’s a diamond, albeit a rough one now. I’ve played a LOT of games since the early 80’s (yes, I’m that old), including some really atrocious ones, and this isn’t one of them. I began playing GZ several weeks ago and was intrigued enough to keep at it after which it really opened up and I could see what an interesting environment you’ve created…it’s afforded some really cool “emergent” game play. The fact that you’re still adding to it was great and I was (still am) excited about what’s around the corner in its development. I’ve since managed to accumulate resources and skills that helped to blunt the effect of this last patch. However, if I had only begun to play after the April update, I might have dropped it before discovering what it truly has to offer.
So, DEVS…you’ve got a major game imbalance in effect that needs to be addressed quickly. The nature of the Internet and social media means that a negative experience can rapidly develop into overwhelmingly bad press with the ultimate result being large numbers of new users won’t even give the game a chance…which would be a real shame.
Like i said, it’s been getting review-bombed since a few hours after the update dropped. What makes it even worse, is the fact that this is a “play-for-free” week, which is supposed to draw new players in…but anyone who looks at the reviews right now is gonna steer WAY clear of the game. This is not the way to increase your player-base.
I’m glad I beat the main story line and almost all of the side missions before the patch I could only imagine the difficulty new players would have saving the hotel mission comes to mind
Chaos os the Middle name to this game now,i hope they fix this mess, because it was good before latest Patchs,or leave the Adventure mode or normal mode, to players less hardcore, put the insane amount of Enemy in hard mode
I already posted what seems necessary to change in another post, the harvester spawns 2 or 3 of them at a time, after you kill one if you attack the harvester another one will appear from a pod, that is why we need to have a limit, like 3/5 hunters max backup from Pods per harvester.
About the summoning they always draw attention from nearby machines, and that is actually been like that for a while and it makes perfect sense.
Although i believe i have good ideas , i´m not a developer, just a fan, in the end i might have no impact at all, but the main problems seem to be the ones already addressed and in need of adjustment :
- Limiting the nr of Hunters from Harvesters “Pods backup”
- Decrease the Speed and range of Mortars, Missile pods , grenade launchers and Railgun Sniper
- Decrease the gas attack radius
If they manage to re balance the game , i think most people will enjoy it again
Note: But yeh, i did not mention in this “Post” about the Hunters
Thing is, this is much worse… There are hunters literally showing up out of thin air, even when there isn’t a harvester involved. I’ve had it happen to me twice, in a single play session. I outlined it in another post on the subject. Something is seriously bugged. Also, weapons are hitting harder, and the spam is real. 3-4 harvesters can saturate a large area with gas grenades, rockets, and automatic fire, and turn a house into a death trap. And that’s on easy… Again, something is seriously bugged. It bears repeating that they can both clip into structures. and spawn (again, from thin air) INSIDE structures… Something is seriously bugged.
That might be another “spawn” problem then, for now if i cleared the nearby area of enemies, the only Hunters would be the ones guarding the harvesters or appearing from the Pods.
I noticed our weapons are hitting harder too, but yes enemy weapons are hitting harder at least from Hunters.
The death trap problem you mentioned i believe has everything to do with the gas extended diameter and with the Extended range and speed of the weapons, if they fix that, there will be no death trap anymore.
Now there is one more thing, The Railguns from the Hunters now pass even through some rocks and terrain, and before they only passed through some doors and edges of buildings.
I really hope they readjust or fix this, and it could not be on a worst date, the game was on sale in all platforms, they will loose a lot of customers this way
i’d pointed that out before as well… They dropped this update, which seriously borked the game, and we’re on a free-to-play week, which is supposed to attract new players. Even on easy, this game is borderline unplayable solo, so this is not going to help them expand their playebase. combine that with the fact that even fans of the game are jumping ship, and the game is being actively review-bombed on steam…and, well, you’ve got yourself a recipe for disaster.
Well, yes.
I remember when I first started this game, sneaking around robodogs at the first church, freaking out when a hunter (prototype) guarded some cars. Actually a little scared when the first tank stalked the house I hid in.
It was great fun and intelligent.
Now I’ve completed it, collected all the collectable and wait for the new dlc. Sneaking around on skirmish setting, struggling with two or three tanks/hunters. Escaping when I can’t beat them. Coming back later.
Now, it’s just a joke. It’s like any other fps except it’s not supposed to be and it’s not as good.
For example, I spawned close to the church ruins up ne. I snuck around on the plains, found a couple of dogs, took them out…and 7 hunters teleported to my location from nowhere/orbit(?) and all of a sudden I was in a firestorm like never before. Constant bombardment without any chance of returning fire…untilvsome other hunters arrived with the mlrs rockets from hundreds of meters away, constantly shelling me.
Ran for dear life to the lighthouse safe house E…where I got either flamethroed through the wall or airburst mlrs killed multiple times.
It’s comical.
It’s nuts.
It’s making me doubt they have a quality testing program before they release any updates. Seriously, did they actually test this on players before releasing it?
I got used to the unnecessary and quirky inventory update and had hopes for something useful for the 21gb download.
Now, I’ll just stop playing until they fix this ridiculous Halo/GoW wannabe update.
Threads merged, again. Keep it friendly, people.

It´s true, on PS4 the community groups are full of people complaining, usually it´s “bad” players who don´t know to play anything that requires to think and just keep asking about weapons and loot, but this is very different , things were okay before, the game reputation improved in the latest months , it became stable since February , now it´s a huge loss.
I hope they fix this ASAP, i will remain, but lots of people are putting the game aside and others asking for refund.
So given this has happened since the update I’ll post this here.
We just cut short a multiplayer session as each of the four of us had problems where we got into the game and it crashed within seconds.
Location doesn’t appear to affect it, we’re all doing file checks of our Steam local files and will log back in tomorrow.
NB - We’ll get there folks, let’s not loose faith
I have to say, part of me really enjoyed this new update. It’s raw, and buggier than before, but I like the direction it took the gameplay. I didn’t feel like I owned the map anymore, I couldn’t just decide to go somewhere and destroy whatever came in my way.
I agree that some nerfing might be needed and some bugs made certain parts unplayable (light bug underground), but I’m really liking the added danger! Tweak it, don’t roll back
Sounds good, a full roll back isn’t required. Just feels like there are a few bugs in need of fix that have appeared since the update.
I’m enjoying the harder fight with the big guys
I’m relatively new to the game (but have piled 96+hours into it in since getting the game three weeks ago!) Absolutely love it, and I can see some of the updates add a lot of value - the Harvester spawning hunters is (after the initial shock) pretty cool… but there are two major issues in the April update for me. Firstly, the general code quality seems to be a problem; we had to abandon a MP session tonight (ScotWilder mentioned it) as we just kep crashing (the proper “has stopped working” crash) on joining. That seems to be happening a lot since the update. Secondly, the rocket volleys and rail gun hunter shots - the range and penetration is just too high. I’m sure that I have hit repeatedly through terrain - but certainly at 250m+ This one change is just too OP in my opinion. If the volleys were either a little shorter range, or a little less accurate, or cover was more effective… any of these would help. Take this as positive feedback from someone who wants this to be better. You have made a wonderful game, and I hope to keep playing it for some time to come.
I find the tone very friendly in here. This is just a case where a really bad update has ruined a game I paid for. Most games I have update with new stuff or bug fixes. They don’t update with changing the fundamental gameplay to the point where it becomes unplayable.
So, I have no hard feelings but I am unhappy about a game ruining event. There is absolutely no. way. to play this game as now, unless I spend all my ammo and all my med kits and all my flares on a few robots and I am at least a half decent player. Is that the plan?
They have to make the difficulties match what is stated in the description otherwise it is very misleading and you’re back to when it was first released in game play apeal.
It’s very misleading right now. All the videos i’ve seen of post-update gameplay on harder difficulty levels, pretty much match my experience on the lowest difficulty level. At this point, i’m not sure if difficulty level matters. it all seems to be the same
