Please add "New Game"

I already discussed it some months ago, but having at least the option to reset all side and main missions after finishing the Campaign would really add a lot of replayability to the game.
Everything else could stay the way it is, collectibles, ammo, challenges, most people seem to want this option or at least are not against it.
Having this in consideration, please devs think about this for the near future.

It’s very stupid to give the ability to make new characters who start fresh on level and skills but then have them share the progress with a character that has practically beat the game or made significant progress. Stuck in the spot that character was last with no weapons.

I love the concept of the game, its gameplay, world, and all of that but this one thing is a glaring issue to me. No game that lets you make multiple characters doesn’t do what was done here, because they all know it then makes creating a new character pointless. This should be a primary focus since this should of been done when it was added.

So for the love of all, make a separation in character progress so making multiple isn’t a waste of time and increase the games replayability.

I hope I’m not the only who believes this should have been done by now

I know many people do not like it like this but it’s not a bug, it’s designed to be that way. They could separate the characters progress but it’s probably not too easy to do. what do they do for people with multiple characters now? do they let one keep everything and wipe progress from the rest? should the clothing items be only usable by the character that finds them? would the characters get to share the plundra still? I would like it to stay how it is but then let us have multiple save files to choose from in the main menu.

Hello,
Not a bug or glitch yet still annoying. I love the story & like playing it…Sadly at this time the only way on Xbox to play it through fresh is to delete your main character. @Staff if you let me buy characters that are separate from those we have & that can play from scratch I will pay real money for that!

I don’t know about that. But I also feel that would make much more sense for replay value and should come soon.

Separate save files for separate characters. Done.

That would be one more quirky way no other game goes. But why not.

This has been suggested many times, but unfortunately no cigar yet…
I personally also find it a bit odd that they didn’t think about having the option to replay some or all missions.
I guess it’s one of those scenarios where if it isn’t taken into account in the first place, it’s difficult to correct afterwards.

I disagree I have 3 different chars I am using with 3 different skill sets and I am happy that they share the same world and progress cause I can switch to a different char and do the things I want to do and use another char for other tasks etc.

I think its a great Idee and concept. Whats missing is that after you completed the main quests and most or all of the side quests there isnt anything left to do for your 2nd, 3rd, 4th char and the only thing you can do is hunt machines or wait for radiotowers to resapwn, which makes the game a bit boring.

What the game is missing right now is replayable missions.

Which I believe was the developers intent. Also why we dont have a respec ability. They want us to try different builds with different characters. It wouldn’t be so bad if there was a way to get experience besides hunting machines for those that have no missions left. I understand people’s frustration and wanting it changed but I dont see why people assume it should already be patched when the developers do not even see it as being broken.

The easiest way would be that as you created a new character you were asked if that character were to enter your existing game-world, with all your progress and weapons, or if it were to be a new start. As things are, if you want to play Xezr’s Harcore Challenge (for example), each character has extreme difficulty in finding weapons (because you’ve already picked them all up).

Also, I want to make a survival training video from the beginning of the game to help solo players, but it looks hopelessly complicated to wipe all the files and then put them back again when I have finished.

Also, I’d love to play the game again from scratch, trying not to die at all.

In most other games (I think) you can start a new game whenever you want, and then go back to the old one. I think Peggy has it right - it is just different save files, and which you used would depend on which character you chose to be…

I think this is happening step-by-step.
Latest patches has made the world non persistent between characters.
So if this not a bug, and is intented function.
They have changed some core mechanics to allow different save progrees on all characters.
This might be first sign of this happening.

Agreed. It needs to be separated. My scenario is that I do play with friends. It is rude to progress without your team. I’d really like to create a new character to explore areas we just gunned through. I’d like to make a character to help my friend who just got the game progress to the point where the rest of us are. I haven’t figured out why you have multiple character slots but they aren’t unique.

A good solution would be to have world save files instead of character saves. And for each world save you can create characters.

That allows for shared progress as well as starting over.

I agree with you pegnose. If this was interpreted we could get more chances to immerse ourselves in the game as well as have a retrial on missions we broke prior. Overall it’d be a win-win situation. On the contrary it would also be bad for multiple save data’s to be corrupted thus breaking the game even more. I think the devs know the game has multiple issues and in order to play it thoroughly it must first be fixed. They’ll probably add it as a feature later on but they would rather be safe than sorry. At least from my perspective I believe this to be the case.

I said it before. They could implement player profiles. Each profile works like the game does today, with 4 characters with shared loot and mission progress. You can create as many profiles as you wish, and a new profile starts fresh from the very beginning. Countless other games has this system…

Or if you just want to play the game from the start, just backup your current save, nice and cozy in a folder somewhere, delete the original, and there you go. If you regret, you can always go back and get it. (Privilege of PC players, of course.)

True. Both parts.

Only a game shouldn’t make you tinker on the OS level in order to achieve a functionality common to 99.9% of the games out there.

I totally agree. I’d love to have separate worlds for each character. Maybe the dev team could ask up front whether this char would share the world with another one or create a fresh one from scratch.

I think it is extremely easy to create a new save game folder when you create a new character and switch between them, since you can do it manually already. That is really all there is to it.
That is easy to implement. Unless their codebase is really, really untidy and messed up.

Start reading there.
It really cannot be any clearer.

I am PRO game+, I suggested additional levels to be gained, thus more skill points.
I also said, if those be implemented (level cap raise, more skill points), it might be best to keep away from normal players, since too OP then.
Immediately followed by:

Tell me, sir @Mr_A1992 , how is this reason for your reaction?
Is what we write too incomprehensible, perchance?
Maybe a bit too messy?
Something else?

@Mr_A1992 makes some valid points. Even if a New Game+ mode allowed characters to gain more skill points, I don’t see a reason why they and someone who hasn’t done a New Game+ wouldn’t or shouldn’t be allowed to play with each other. You talk about them becoming too OP for other players, but I’m already playing with a guy who just started and I’m level 26. Sure it might be easy for me to kill off the prototype machines, but so what? If I wanted to I could go down south and just kill every prototype I see anyways. Doing it with him just helps him out.

This balance the two of you are arguing about is completely based on the players decision. A level 31 character or level 1? FNIX machines or Prototype? Easy, medium, or hard difficulty? It’s all your choice.

Balance mostly only matters when it’s player vs player. Having a level 31 fighting against a level 1 would be unfair and unbalanced. But it’s player(s) against machines.

Now if players got overpowered to the point where none of the machines present a challenge anymore, that’s another story.

And finally, while I would like a New Game+ mode, @OGDH makes a good point. You’re already going back into the game with a fully decked out character (unless you’re using a new one I guess). Additional skill points doesn’t have to be dependent on a New Game+. Personally, I just want the ability to gain a few more skill points. Like I’d be happy with a level 35 cap.
