Experimental weapons

From the original base game weapons we’re missing experimental versions for:

  • the brännboll bat
  • the möller
  • the sjöqvist
  • the HP5
  • the AI-76
  • the AG5

Three more will come, six in total are left. So what do you think? What do you hope?

My guessing:
HP5 and AI76 are long requested and with the Sjöqvist we could get another shotgun…
Brännboll bat is too boring, möller somehow too small and weak to be a worthy option and the AG5 too similar to the AG4.

But who knows… At least we know that the experimental version doesn’t necessarly have to have something in common with the 1c to 5c versions.
The Älgstudsare works totally different and the Meusser even has a new ammo type, doesn’t it? (I didn’t get one yet, so no idea)

Experimental effects
What do you think how they could work or which unique experimental effects they could have?

As an alternative to the flamethrower (DLC) we could have a weapon that uses corrosive acid, a freeze-gun or a watergun (as the machines don’t seem to like water).
Or what about a gun with laser or heat guided projectiles? Mark a target and a full magazine of guided bullets will automatically be fired… And hit anything on the way towards the marked target.

More ideas?


Location

We’ll need more hints.
Currently we have two pictures showing different locations.

The first picture I take a closer look on looks like it shows östervik Klinte… The Location already was found. But it’s slightly changed. This roof, where it is taken from, currently can’t be reached and doesn’t have any objects, crates, tents and so on on it.

Now, having in mind that we’re in a changed location in mountains region, let’s guess on. What if this region finally gets the revamp we’ve been waiting for so long?

Update: revamp is confirmed, although it won’t be a full revamp. Control Points are not confirmed.

The second picture seems to show a new location. Or at least a location that could probably finally have been changed. My guess: it’s the large open area on Kilsberget.

Let’s look at the monitors.

“Kamera 1”
Nothing I can currently recognize.
A factory… Is it a scene of the location where the picture is taken from, so maybe on Kilsberget?

“Kamera 2”
Looks like a warboard room. A new one? Or an already existing one? A new area indeed could mean a new command bunker/warboard room. Or, as some scenes seem to take place in mountains region, is it the Uttern command bunker warboard room?

“Kamera 3”
That seems to be the arena (FOA2) at Normyrra.

“Kamera 4”
Looks almost like these rooms in the hatches, where we can activate a tyrant. Will there be a new final tyrants for the showdown? Or maybe an arena fight with different machines and a tyrant, which can be activated there? Is it a new room or the known ones, where we maybe get a new option? Questions over questions…


Without more knowledge, let’s take a look at what Carni said and the map:

The island north of himfjäll obviously is too big.
So what’s left? An other island? Maybe even “Monster Island”? Or something underground?

So 5 is off the table. 1 and 2 are hard on the limit to be too great, too. 3… Maybe too small? 4 finally could be interesting, but is small, too.

I agree, the most interesting part will be how to get there… Most islands are too far away for the known ways and there are no bridges that could be repaired, except for 5, but that’s the biggest one.
What about a tunnel system with something like a railway?

What if FOA2 at normyrra leads us to such a tunnel system? That could be a solutions for every island.

As one picture is taken from Klinte (looking west), maybe it’s indeed island 2, which is the closest island… So maybe a new way… A ferry or a ponton bridge…?

Or what about something like we got with the tyrant hatches… An underground location, that is entered and left by a hatch. By that this path doesn’t have to be physically in place and to be as long as the total expected range.

We’ll see.

HP5 and AI-76 seem like they would be good as experimental though the AI-76 is already quite powerful.

And the third new one?

Not really sure but the brannboll bat would be good since right now there is only one melee experimental. Or the sjoqvist since there is only one shotgun experimental. One of those could replace AI-76 because the AI-76 is powerful enough as it is.

Or the HP5, as there is only one smg experimental or the AG5 as there is only one 5.56 experimental…

There may be reasons for everything, but I don’t think it’ll be the brännboll bat. Too boring. We “need” cool firepower.

I think the AI 76 and the HP5 are long requested and have a good chance. But the third one… Maybe indeed the sjöqvist.

What kind of experimental effect could they (whatever weapons it’ll be) have?

I was kind of thinking a bat would be to boring, but you never know.

I think the AI-76 could shoot acid bullets that do damage slowly, like corrosive ammo accept you would not have to craft the ammo. Actually, might be to basic.

I think that it will be island 1. It has a connection with a possible Ferry from Hagaboda dock. It’s also the most logical place where Camp Kabarga is from which the First Firebirds were sent.

The island is big, but if we want something explore, it shouldn’t be small.

It seems to be logical.
But isn’t it too great if Carni already said that the new area isn’t as sprawling as himfjäll? It’s almost the same size.

I see, you already updated your map with a narrow line to there and the possible location of Camp kabarga. Almost looks like confirmed/proven :sweat_smile:

Do you remember this map found at landingzone anya? We never found out, why there were these markings south east of archilelago. Maybe hinting to a possible location of monster Island?

I read the “sprawling” to mean there wouldn’t be a great many points of interest. But if it indeed means the size, then it couldn’t be that island. :cry: Then the next best thing could be the island I called Sköldpadda.

No, I already was there, so it should be off the table :joy:. There is nothing of interest. And it is really small, like 3 is.

That ferry line I added a long time ago. I was sort off giving the devs subtle ideas what to add.

Yess I remember That. Could be. I placed monster island on the map based on visual observation. But without actual confirmation of it’s coordinates.

No not Hagaboda and not looking north or south.

They imply its a small place, so its probably the smal island in Himfjall and some new places around the main big “Island” (yes its an island and not a continent xD).
The 2 small islands would make sense but seem to require a few complicated methods for us to reach them, too far away for a “cord boat”, there are no bridges there and it seems too weird to get there just by " warp or loading screen", on the other hand, island NR 2 and 3 seem too big requiring too many existing and new assets.

I hope we dont get another experimental melee weapon…they always feel a bit off but i have a feeling its exactly one of the 3 new weapons -.-

On the other hand an experimental sjoqvist would be fun, even with an already existent SPAS12 ingame.

Al76, being an AK47 or AK74 it deserved an experimental version due to its popularity.

I feel like it is going to be island 3. Though it might be too small.

Me too, but the scene changed a bit to the current location.

No need to stay behind the curtain:
It’s taken in Klinte, looking west.
If that’s a hint, it goes towards island No 2.

One more thing:
If there are indeed some changes to Klinte, maybe even the mountain region finally got its revamp.

As far as the location is concerned, “sprawling” has many definitions and much depends on which one is meant. Islands 3 and 4 are midgets as compared to Himfjall. After all the requests for new islands, it would be one massive letdown to end the series by having the player go to a small island like 3 or 4. It’s entirely possible that although islands 1, 2, and 5 are all larger than Himfjall, they could in fact be the location- and that the players might have to physically cross large areas of the island (because of no fast travel until one has been to a location) to reach a comparatively small number of locations on that island. In any case, I’m hoping that players get the ability to go to all the islands just to see the world space from there.

And while they’re at it, add a 1-4 scope and vision module ability to the AI- 76. As the series is ending, play balance should no longer matter so much.

Island 1 is my current bet. One could hope still for island 5 but it is simply too large even with the obvious long standing development already visible.

I do hope that the update provides a DLC length storyline for the finale however.
