Those who live by the bug die by the bug (spoilers for Al Pine DLC)

So as I wrote earlier,

My game bugged out several times during the mission “The Resistance” (hunters spawned inside the building, random tanks including an Apo level 4 rival joined the fight, the session crashed, etc.). The machines won.

Today, my annoyance with the mission had finally subsided enough to put an end to it all. So I talked to what’s her face, loaded up my guns, went up to the 3rd floor, and held my breath as the machines spawned, marched on the hotel, and … fell through the ground. The lot of them. Couldn’t have taken more than four minutes for it all to be over.

Those who live by the bug die by the bug, I guess.
Today, I win.

Just not in the way I expected.

Also, the mission turn-in? (spoilers)

Was that the king of anti-climaxes, or what? No rousing speech, no gold LMG, no credits for the DLC rolling, no new song, nothing. :frowning:

Summary

Could have been worse. It could have just cut to black, with a screen saying “you escaped and woke up somewhere else.” It wasn’t that was it?

lol, no. And given the quality of the monologue in “Behind the Curtain,” I should probably count my blessings.

But at least the main quest chain of the main game gave us various golds.

Let’s say I’m in no immediate danger of seeing any of those any time soon; this little humorous interlude also seems to have terminated all but one of the rivals on the isle.

But who knows what the future might bring!
My friend still wants to play, so I won’t uninstall right away. I might get that gold yet.

However did you get that screenshot???

Oh, and why can’t we hunt Hunters through the maze? (Or the other way round?) That would be terrifyingly cool.

I’ve had fun and games with that mission - damn thing resetting waves after two out of four, and going straight back to nought at the end and starting again… Did someone say there was a timer on the mission? Not between waves, I mean, but overall?

After I turned in the mission, I wanted to know what the “falling through the ground” would be like on a bicycle. Specifically, I wanted to know whether when you touch rock bottom and are reset to ground height, you’re still on the bike. Unfortunately, the hotel bike spawns so far from the hotel (that is to say, on ground, not on cement) that you can see it standing there (it doesn’t fall at that point), but when you approach, you fall. (It’s a trap!) I took the picture on the (second or third) way down.

Funny enough, when you fast travel to abort the loop of falling, the bike disappears, but its marker remains, so I guess that’s when it finally falls.

I tried that at one point. It didn’t follow me in either, but at one point, it ended up on top of the outer perimeter, taking pot shots at me! That was a strange mixture of terrifying, annoying, and hilarious in its unexpectedness.

I wouldn’t know, I probably just set the speed record for the mission.

The overall timer of The Resistance mission is the bear hotel’s HP bar, which will be chopped piece by piece by attacking enemies if you don’t engage the enemies during the wave and instead go into hiding.

Oh, you’re looking up - I couldn’t work out why the maze seemed to be on the wrong side of the road!

Right, so provided you keep them away from the hotel, then it doesn’t go down at all. I couldn’t finish the mission, 'cos it kept resetting. But of course, if it’s the final mission and you don’t complete it, then you can play it over and over as many times as you like (if you like that sort of thing) whereas if you complete it, then you can’t replay it. Just musing. You could kill them all, except the last Dog and leave it to destroy the hotel on its own, while you went off to do something more interesting, and then you could replay the mission, um, if you felt like it.
