There is another thing that you @dogcoffee might want to look for, if you are curious enough.
Investigation: The case of the removed cave on Iboholmen.
I tried to find the discussion we had not that long ago where @JuanEyeJack mentioned he remembered a cave north east of Yittervik in the early game, that was suddenly removed.
I did a search in that area of Archipelago, and found a ditch (4172, 1874) with a large boulder that has a space at the back, where we can get in, but not out.
However, since the cave was removed, only people who play an early version in which the cave was still there can actually find it.
@Madchaser do you remember that discussion? I don’t seem to be able to find it again.
Although not north-east of Yttervik, a possible patched up cave location…
The cave was overlooking the trail on the northeast side of the island. It wasn’t easy to find but I did excite a few hunters there. I stumble across it more following the trail that follows along towards the top area of the hill.
Sounds sick, I’ll definitely check that out, just had a new vr come in so I haven’t been on gen z as much lately
@dogcoffee Hey, i have a request.
If you find unusual large machine concentrations, could you take some pics and show us?
Try not to die…too much
PS: Its been said a lot but its a shame they abandoned the game, so much to improve, fix and to add

I wish I’d have a screenshot of a situation on himfjäll at the commune… I was hunted by about 40 apoc hunters with no end in sight and ended up there on a watch tower. That was heavy.

In the early game I had some fun encounters with hunters at Hjalmars Stuga. Once done the ground around was covered with hunter corpses to such a degree that it was difficult to loot them
Yeah, those were the days …

Come to think about it, when I used to play from like 2019-2020 I remember multiple times where I would be getting chased by 20+ hunters, which was Definitely fun but was a bit terrifying at the time lol

If any Steam players like to try an old GZ-version, I added a summary with a step-by-step in my post from some days earlier. It also features an example download syntax.

Thanks! I was wondering how to do that!

Thanks Gysbert. I will have a very good look at that.

The more people who give the old version a try, the more people who could help answer the questions we asked in this thread. Like for instance looking for the Cave north-east of Yttervik on Archipelago.
Nice, going back to classic GZ sounds fun!
Try focusing on stealth builds this time they hit different and keep things fresh.

If you do (or anyone), could you perhaps take a look at the requests we posted in this topic, post 3, post 6, post 21, and post some view pictures and map locations. Maybe even try to find the cave that was later removed and post pictures of that.
If you get bored and find it too easy playing the original game, you could consider playing Xezr’s hardcore mode. I did consider it, but decided that I got plenty of beating as it were.
But I just love how @Zesiir back in May '19 said that he had kind of “been everywhere and seen it all” suggesting that there were not much more to do
If any of you actually played Zesiir’s mode please let us know how you fared

(Bwt, I was tempted to necro Zesiirs thread to steal the [Necro Award] but some threads are too sacred to mess with
)

@sabredog66, @Vati-544, I’m curious if you had a go playing the old version?
I love to hear all about it. I feel that the lack of enthousiast responses or reporting back is perhaps an indication that playing the old version isn’t that fun after all. Or getting it to play it on Steam is too much hassle.
I know that I definitely would not like GZ with its grid based inventory. I always found it tedious.

I think it’s definetly more enjoyable than playing the current version as it requires more strategy and sometimes the use of traps and things like that. I do apologize that I haven’t been able to answer any of the questions on here, unfortunately it seems I’m unable to play the old version anymore, at least not without a lot of trouble. My ps5 keeps automatically downloading the new update while I’m not playing, so every time I wanna play the old version I have to delete the game and redownload just the section of the download where it’s playable, and my wifi is pretty terrible so the download is slow. I’ve been trying to find a way to make that easier but, hopefully I figure out something soon.
You could try to get a disc.
@Gysbert : I don’t think the grid based inventory is that bad at all, but regarding the ammo the piles should way larger… An inventory full of ammo but still not having enough for a battle against hordes of machines with rivals or maybe a tyrant is inacceptable. Yes, there were no rivals and tyrants back then IIrc, but that doesn’t matter.
I’m using a disc from I believe August 2019, I never had this issue with the ps4 when I tried it so maybe it’s a ps5 thing. Maybe there’s a setting where I can disable the auto download
